CCTV at the Anchor

If you have an item stolen or damaged from the common areas, the advice from the Factors is:

  • Report it to the police and get a crime reference. It is good if owners advise the building manager (currently Steve Paterson) directly of the need for CCTV but they need the police to request it.

  • Give as specific details as possible both of the timeframe and of where the item was stolen from which narrows which cameras to look at.

  • Note, there is a cost for the contractor to download the CCTV images, which would normally be a development cost.

Also, do report it to the committee. Report the incident and what happens.  At the moment, we have no real data on how often these incidents happen. If owners tell us then we can get a more accurate measure of  the true extent of the issue and outcomes.

The Committee has raised issues over the CCTV system over the last year (see Meeting Minutes) and the Factors are now looking into getting estimates for a much more up to date system which we hope will eventually reduce costs, make it more straight forward to download footage and easier to maintain.

It is always prudent to be aware of the risk of thefts. Ensure bikes are secured, cars are locked and if you leave items in the garage you regularly check on them.

We also would like to reduce damage to common parts and unnecessary expenses. For example, lifts get damaged as owners overload, are do not take care when transporting large items in the lifts. An out of order lift inconveniences all and is a cost to the rest of the block.

Likewise, discarding large items in the garage as waste. These then have to be removed by The Factors which again is a cost to the whole development. Owners who want to discard large items of furniture, mattresses etc need to contact dispose of these themselves in a responsible way. The expense should not be visited on other owners.
